PAST SIMPLE = MINULÝ PROSTÝ 

Tvorba:

pravidelná slovesa: -ed/-d

nepravidelná slovesa: past simple (irregular verbs)

She came home late.    Did she come home late?    She didn't come home late.   

Yes, she did.   No, she didn't.

 

1.  děj, který byl ukončen v minulosti a nemá žádný vztah k přítomnosti

I worked as an actor last year.   I saw a terrible film last night.      I was at my mum yesterday.

2.děje po sobě jdoucí

 I came from work, I cooked my lunch and I went to bed.     I read my favorite book and then listened to the radio.    When I arrived at home, I did all my homeworks.

3. vypravujeme-li příběh použijeme tento čas k vyjádření dějů a událostí ( ne k popisu krajiny – ten je průběhový...)

   I worked in the garden when it happened...         She got up, ate her dinner and then fell on the stairs. During all this time birds were singing and the sun was shining.

PAST CONTINUOUS = MINULÝ PRŮBĚHOVÝ

Tvorba:

She was cooking for two hours.   Was she cooking for two hours?   She wasn't cooking for two hours.   Yes, she was.   No, she wasn't.


1. děje probíhaly současně

   I was watching television and my sister was reading.    I was cooking and listening to the radio.    While I was learning, my sister was playing some computer game.

2. děj probíhal a byl přerušen

   I was cooking when the doorbell rang.   When I was reading the book, John came in.   When Mark was travelling through the Czech republic, he lost his passport.

3. děj probíhal po určitou dobu (nebo v určitou dobu)

   I was cooking at 5 o´clock yesterday.   I was reading for two hours.   They were typing an article at 8 o´clock.
